Description
The Hardface AP-O 1.6mm Open Arc 15kg wire is engineered for high-performance hardfacing where severe abrasion and light impact cause frequent equipment wear. This self-shielded flux-cored wire deposits a very hard martensitic overlay, perfect for extending the lifespan of components exposed to grinding or mineral wear.
It’s ideal for industries such as mining, earthmoving, cement, and agriculture. You can use it to rebuild and protect high-wear surfaces like conveyor screws, chutes, mixer blades, augers, and bucket lips. The 1.6mm diameter allows for deeper penetration, and the 15kg spool ensures long, uninterrupted weld runs, even on demanding projects.
Hardface AP-O Open Arc Wire runs smoothly using open arc welding with DC+ polarity. It delivers a stable arc with low spatter, and its fast-freezing slag peels off easily, improving productivity and minimizing post-weld cleanup. You can apply it in single or multiple layers depending on the wear severity.
Because the wire doesn’t require shielding gas, it works well in outdoor or field environments. For best results, preheat thicker or high-carbon base metals and cool slowly to reduce the risk of cracking. When applied properly, the weld deposit can reach hardness levels of up to 60 HRC.
This wire excels in dry, abrasive conditions with little or no impact. If you need something for tougher impact zones, we offer several alternatives in our hardfacing wire range.
