Description
The ER430 1.6mm TIG Wire 5kg is a ferritic stainless steel TIG filler rod specifically designed for welding 430 and similar chromium stainless steels. It provides excellent resistance to oxidation, thermal fatigue, and corrosion in mildly aggressive environments, making it a popular choice for automotive, kitchen equipment, and structural fabrication.
Containing approximately 17% chromium, ER430 TIG wire delivers strong, corrosion-resistant welds without nickel. This makes it more cost-effective and stable in applications where high-temperature scaling and moderate corrosion are concerns. It’s commonly used for welding stainless sheet metal, furnace parts, appliance panels, and decorative stainless components.
At 1.6mm, this TIG wire provides excellent feed control and smooth arc stability. You can create clean, strong welds with minimal spatter. It performs well when welding thin to medium-thickness materials and offers a good balance between weldability and mechanical properties.
For best results, use the wire with DCEN (Direct Current Electrode Negative) polarity. Always clean the base metals before welding to ensure strong fusion and minimize contamination. The 5kg spool is compact yet sufficient for medium-volume projects, making it perfect for workshops, maintenance crews, or small production lines.
ER430 is non-hardenable by heat treatment, and its ferritic microstructure helps prevent weld cracking caused by thermal cycling. This makes it ideal for parts that undergo frequent heating and cooling but don’t require high tensile strength.
